Primula Vulgaris,
From the family Primulaceae, native to south and western Europe with heart shaped white petals surrounding a central yellow star. The stem only grows 10 - 30 cm tall and the leaves are 5 - 25 cm long and are usually wrinkled in appearance, with a toothed shape attenuated towards the base. The delicate flowers are 2 - 4 cm in diameter and either bear pin flowers or thrum flowers, allowing one plant to pollinate the next, but not itself on another flower. Flowering in spring in slight shade on northern facing slopes with a preferred pH of 6.1 - 7.0
