Common Knapweed - 10g

£3.00

This is sometimes seen growing on road verges and some old meadows and is a hardy perennial. It has raggedy, purple flowers. Its late flowering and seeding does not dispose it to true hay meadows and it does not benefit the hay crop in any way. However, it is a food house for many of the bees, flies, bugs and birds that visit the meadows in late summer. The Goldfinches especially flock together to feed on these seeds and can frequently be seen disappearing into the long sward.
