Pignut - 0.5g / 250 seeds

£3.00

Description

Short to medium plant with small white flowers, borne on umbels.

Habitat

Pignut grows best in pastures, rough scrubland or woodland and prefers slightly damp soil. It is one of the first flowering plants and has set seed by July. It dies back and leaves a small nut-like tuber under the ground that is favoured by badgers (and pigs).

Sowing

This seed is best sown as part of an Autumn sowing as it needs colder temperatures for a while to break its dormancy. Viability is good, so if it does not germinate in the first year it may well do so later on.
